the skipper horse in fine spring form (not so the rider!)

Spring is in the air, and the horse has not had much exercise owing to a full diary of events for me. Took the opportunity this afternoon (after saltmine hours) for a quick canter in the sunshine! One of us is carrying a bit of weight and needs hair tidying, the other one is as good looking as ever! Traffic dog can be seen earning her living, though not wearing her hi-viz coat.
Plenty of owners at the salt mines, for the opening weekend, all water-heater and fire problems yesterday and today, but nothing too alarming. Nice to see them all back after the winter, though the long summer haul is in front of us....

farcebook surprises!

Finally nagged into joining the dreaded farcebook, then happily discovered several old acquaintances, gone but not forgotten, who all seem to have grown up into really serious pillars of society, with terribly sensible careers and marvellously funny photos of their bald heads and wrinkles! Apart from making me feel old, it has cheered the day considerably being able to glean bits and bobs of information about one and all. So, despite all the publicity to the contrary, farcebook can count me as a sporadic visitor from now onwards. Working alone at the saltmines today - working being a very loose interpretation of my activity, so enjoying some internet time-wasting - all in the name of research of course!

Most rural Lincolnshire

Just to make you smile today, zooming to a meeting yesterday I noticed this road name, and had to stop and photograph it because it made me smile!

gorgeous girls!

Just been to a fashion show by a local dress shop, in aid of Macmillan Nurses (who support cancer patients) and two of the models were my brother's eldest and youngest daughters. They looked so lovely, particularly in the ballgowns, and were accompanied up and down the catwalk by tuxedoed young men (who didn't know what had hit them!). It was an absolutely lovely evening and brought a lump to my throat. Those beautiful young women were, only yesterday, babies in arms. My sister, my sister in law and I sat and watched open mouthed as they strutted their stuff up and down the red carpet. Just gorgeous. I only wish I had taken my camera with me. It over-ran and the music failed for the second half but none of these details mattered, we were carried away by the charm of the evening. I might even go and buy a dress...if only I had an event to make the outlay worthwhile!

just a quickie!

Quiet at the salt mines, employee gone to see family in Poland therefore not so much pressure to be busy...and time for blogging. Big boy making last Univ visit today, to Leeds then must await some results this week, which will probably determine whether he is going to make the grade for Leeds or Notts. Fingers crossed. Both boys still very tired from virus, though improving. Salt mines open to public 14th March and all owners telephoning excitedly to have units prepared for summer season. It will be nice to be busy. Mr Skipper the Wonderhorse still not wearing hind shoes, I have a couple more busy weeks then I must get the farrier to come and put shoes back on so that we can do more road work. Horse seems mellow and content, so can't ask for much more. Oddly, I had quite a lot to blog when I opened the blogging window, but mind (as usual) now a complete blank...so signing off now, will call back if memory/brain function returns!
